I’m definitely intrigued to continue more of this series。 To be completely honest I began reading this story because- and what initially grew my interest - was the amount of talk on the fashion throughout the series。 Very alternative 90s/ 2000s。 I’m glad that I am slowly becoming invested In Nana’s journey。 I do really want to know more about the first half of the story, those characters and their arcs but also the latter。 It was a little slow going at first especially as Nana was younger and de I’m definitely intrigued to continue more of this series。 To be completely honest I began reading this story because- and what initially grew my interest - was the amount of talk on the fashion throughout the series。 Very alternative 90s/ 2000s。 I’m glad that I am slowly becoming invested In Nana’s journey。 I do really want to know more about the first half of the story, those characters and their arcs but also the latter。 It was a little slow going at first especially as Nana was younger and definitely acted juvenile, but I do believe this series will ultimately have a lot of truths and discovery。 I’m excited 😊OKAY WOW - THERES 2 NANA’S 😲 LMAO ! I thought this was past and present… 🥲🤣 This just got even more exciting yay I get more of both worlds yaaay ! 。。。more

This was recommended to me to give it a try and it was actually very good。 This book is a good read for all age groups。 A great book for anime lovers。 It is not your average anime but different with twists and turns。 It will keep you reading。

I discovered this manga by chance。 Someone I follow on Instagram posted an image from the book in their stories of Nana O (the alternative looking one, if you've read the book) and I was enthralled by her wicked appearance。 It looked really cool and I wanted to know what it was from, but they didn't say。 The next day, they posted another image of the book in their stories, and this time it was directly from the author themselves, and from there I was able to learn about the series。Now I've perso I discovered this manga by chance。 Someone I follow on Instagram posted an image from the book in their stories of Nana O (the alternative looking one, if you've read the book) and I was enthralled by her wicked appearance。 It looked really cool and I wanted to know what it was from, but they didn't say。 The next day, they posted another image of the book in their stories, and this time it was directly from the author themselves, and from there I was able to learn about the series。Now I've personally never read manga before。 Graphic novels? Sure。 Several dozens of those。 But never manga itself。 Was this perhaps the best introduction to manga? I really can't say。 I don't think I've ever fully been interested in manga enough to determine what might be a great starting point for someone with my particular reading tastes。 But Nana certainly sounded intriguing enough, and I liked what I saw of the artwork, so I thought it was worth a try。Apparently this series was never fully finished, and nor is it easy to come by physically。 Much to my chagrin, I had to settle for the cheaper and more accessible option: reading the book via Kindle。 But I suppose I can't complain too much。 Anyway, I enjoyed the book and give it a solid four stars。 My thoughts are listed below:For those who don't know, Nana follows two girls, both of whom are named Nana。 We have Nana K and Nana O。 The synopsis of volume 1 is a bit misleading though。 The two Nana's don't actually meet in this volume, even though it says as much; I presume that happens in the second volume。 Instead, this volume acts as a sort of prologue (which is elaborated on at the end in the bonus pages, which broke the fourth wall in a rather amusing way)。 The book is divided between the two Nana's points of view。 A little over the first half of the book follows Nana K's point of view。 Nana K is desperate to follow her friends to Tokyo, but she can't seem to get into any of the art schools there。 We watch Nana K struggle to find a way to make Tokyo possible。 And while she's at it (and this is what most of her story consists of), she falls for a boy。 Nana O, however, is in a rock band。 When she finds out her boyfriend, Ren, is moving to Tokyo to be in a different band, Nana O is heartbroken but determined to pave her own way to Tokyo。 That way, she can pursue her music fully。 This volume sets up both Nana's stories, showing us the events leading up to their meeting in future volumes, as well as what brings them to Tokyo later in the first place。Of the two Nana's, I definitely had a preference for Nana O。 Nana O is a musician, looks like a badass, and is more mature。 There's something sad about her that I hope gets explored in future volumes, because I think there's a lot to her personality and motivations that was barely unearthed here。 Nana O knows what she wants and is willing to pursue it for all the right reasons。 She's not impulsive or irrational。 She's young and she's probably not the best role model, but she was likeable。 And I love her hair and style。 Nana O is the one who drew me to this series in the first place。 And although I'm not sure what to make of Ren as a person, he is a very attractive character。。。Nana K, on the other hand, is boy crazy。 I could not relate to her in the least。 She's irrational and impulsive, the opposite of the feeling I got from Nana O, and she's much more girly and "normal。" Not that that's a bad thing at all。 But it made it hard for me to relate or care much about her story when she kept falling head over heals (HARD) for every single boy she met。 I'm hoping that I enjoy her part of the story more in future volumes, because although I enjoyed her half of the story, I didn't love it, and that's the reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five。 I did, however, like Junko。 Shoji kind of bugged me though。Surprisingly, I'll be continuing with the series。 I'd like to read volume 2 sometime, and read about the two Nana's first encounter with each other。 It's hard to imagine these two becoming best friends, but something about their seemingly opposing personalities must compliment each other and work for this to have had so many volumes。 While I don't necessarily want to keep reading for Nana K, I definitely want to keep reading for Nana O, so we'll see where this journey takes me。 。。。more

I wanted to start the series since I’ve been watching the anime and I love it just as much。 The illustrations are beautiful and the manga really inspires me in terms of art style & fashion references。 I really like Nana Osaki’s style and overall character but I found myself relating more to Nana Komatsu in some aspects。 I feel like volume 1 could be read as a standalone, but I’m excited to see what the rest of the series has to offer。

Reading this as a book of the months for August 2021, the book has two short stories about two different Nana's。 The second story was my favourite of the two。 The art and writing was very good。 Reading this as a book of the months for August 2021, the book has two short stories about two different Nana's。 The second story was my favourite of the two。 The art and writing was very good。 。。。more

First volume and it's already hitting like a truck。 I can only imagine what the other volunes would be like。 Nana Komatsu's story especially resonates with me, her naïveté reminded me of my 17 year old self。 The pains of going through through your teenage years as a girl, giving yourself to others and not knowing their true intentions。 Having no idea what love actually is and being easily maniuplated。 In my opinion, a must read for every woman out there。 First volume and it's already hitting like a truck。 I can only imagine what the other volunes would be like。 Nana Komatsu's story especially resonates with me, her naïveté reminded me of my 17 year old self。 The pains of going through through your teenage years as a girl, giving yourself to others and not knowing their true intentions。 Having no idea what love actually is and being easily maniuplated。 In my opinion, a must read for every woman out there。 。。。more

This manga is amazing and I love how flawed the characters are !! I definitely wasn’t expecting this when I was reading this !! I definitely think that this manga isn’t really everyone’s cup of tea but I still love it to all of my heart。 Nana and Hachi’s friendship is everything to me , especially them being platonic soulmates and their pasts。

3。5/5 I enjoyed this mainly because it’s more adult orientated than most of the romance or Shoujo manga that I have read。 The problems just feel more real when characters are having sex early in a relationship and not waiting 10+ volumes for a character to kiss。 Life is just messy and this portrays that pretty well。 Volume 1 however is just an intro to who I assume will be the main characters。 Nana and Nana。 Vastly different from each other they both are entangled in their own messy relationship 3。5/5 I enjoyed this mainly because it’s more adult orientated than most of the romance or Shoujo manga that I have read。 The problems just feel more real when characters are having sex early in a relationship and not waiting 10+ volumes for a character to kiss。 Life is just messy and this portrays that pretty well。 Volume 1 however is just an intro to who I assume will be the main characters。 Nana and Nana。 Vastly different from each other they both are entangled in their own messy relationship problems。 The first Nana falls in love too easily and was used by older men。 The 2nd Nana, a punk musician, has lived a rougher life and is forced to make some tough decisions when her lover has to leave to follow his dreams。 The volume just feels a little too long for an intro or prolog chapter。 It didn’t scratch the surface or reach the meat and potatoes of what the manga will truly be about。I read this for Manga Squad’s August Manga of the Month (Josie)。 Not sure if I’ll continue on with it but I might give it at least another volume to see where exactly the plot is going。 Knowing the series is on indefinite hiatus however tends to have me leaning the other direction。 Our punk rock Nana(at least I think it is) reading a paper on the cover of volume 1。Read 8/2/21 。。。more
